The castle's old coachhouse has been beautifully restored and serves as an atmospheric clubhouse where you can relax after your round. At noon you can enjoy a delicious lunch in the à la carte restaurant.

Zwijnaarde Castle

The castle itself has a long history, with origins in the 14th century, when Zwijnaarde still belonged to St. Peter's Abbey in Ghent. The lords of Zwijnaarde found the area to be exceptional and chose it to build a country retreat. Over the years, both the clergy and various Counts of Flanders, as well as Isabella of Austria, took up residence here.

However, the building was brought down by violence in the Iconoclastic Fury in 1578 and a few centuries later during World War I. Again and again it has been rebuilt, and generations have found in the estate a refuge from busy city life.

Today you can enjoy this showpiece of the East Flemish landscape: the beautiful winter garden and stylish historical salons are particularly suitable for receptions, weddings, seminars and the like.
